We offer:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes: Beginner through Advanced.
  • GED Preparation classes: ABE, Pre- GED, and GED.

Education that workers can put to work!

Adult Basic Education (ABE), Pre-GED and GED classes are to learn and improve reading, writing, math, social studies, science and computer skills.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes are to learn and improve reading, writing, speaking, listening and computer skills.

Workplace Education Classes lead to a better trained workforce, improved workforce morale, and a more productive and successful company.

  • Two ESOL classes are held with the help of the United Electrical Workers (UE) at Haskon Aerospace.
  • Three ESOL classes are held with the help of UNITE HERE at the A.J. Wright Distribution Center.
  • LPN Prep classes are held with the help of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) at Brandon Woods of New Bedford.

More than 1.1 million (1/3) of the Massachusetts 3.2 million workers do not have the skills needed to perform in the state’s rapidly changing economy.

Families headed by adults without a high school diploma suffer severe economic consequences. 21.7% of families headed by high school dropouts are poor, and 55% of families headed by single women who are high school dropouts are poor.

The best indicator of a child’s success in school is the educational level of the parents.Civic and community participation suffer when adults have low literacy skills.

Adults suffer poor health as a result of low literacy skills.

Incarceration rates are high among adults with low literacy skills.

The demand for ABE and ESOL is far greater than the services available. Waiting lists vary from 2 to 8 months for ABE, and from 6 months to 2 years for ESOL.
